While medical cannabis has become a buzz word recently, one should be judicious about its use as a cure-all for pain. The truth is that there is a lot that is not known about how effective cannabis is for treating pain. Few large, well-designed trials have been published it's not that it doesn't work, more research needs to be done to clarify. Typically, patients who have tried and failed most other therapy modalities or are willing to substitute opioids with cannabis may be reasonable candidates. Certainly, not everyone is a candidate and it's not a first-line therapy. Please contact our office for a consult.
